The Nutcracker Unbound!

In a season full of hustle & bustle, gift giving, over-indulgence, and ‘tis the season cheer, make sure to leave room in your schedule for this brand-new, cannot-be-missed holiday tradition in Los Angeles. THE NUTCRACKER UNBOUND is coming to you on December 11, 2011 for a new, exciting & fun twist on the classic. Featuring over 75 experienced dancers, more than 50 students from Sophie Dance, professional aerialists, circus artists, and a magician, this talented cast will be dancing to remixed music from the original Tchaikovsky score in a plethora of styles including jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, ballet, aerial hoop, tissue, contortion, and acrobatic dance! The company’s directors and choreographers are teaming up with innovative costume designers, music master-minds, hair & make-up artists and set designers to bring to life a fascinating & unique, never-before-seen Nutcracker. Presented to you by LA UNBOUND at the historic Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles, this incredible collaboration within the Los Angeles artistic community is a Nutcracker you won’t find your dad dozing off to!

Upcoming Performances at the El Portal Theatre

LA Unbound announces upcoming performances at the historic El Portal Theatre on Saturday, August 28th at 8:00pm and Sunday, August 29th at 4:00pm and 8:00pm. We are proud to be returning to the El Portal Theatre with our largest and most diverse production to date, featuring more than 20 Los Angeles-based choreographers, over 100 performers, and an eclectic variety of dance styles and aerial arts, including: burlesque, hip-hop, jazz, ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, bollywood, aerial hoop, and tissu! We are honored to be featuring guest performances by blue13 dance company, XPOSE Dance Theatre Company, and Earthwalk Dance Company. Tickets are $18.00 in advance (CLICK HERE to get them now!) and $25.00 at the door.

AUDITIONS this Saturday!

Auditions for the next LA Unbound show are this Saturday, April 24th from 1:00-4:30pm at 3rd Street Dance (8558 West 3rd St. Los Angeles, CA 90048). We are looking for dancers of ALL styles and ALL experience levels! The show will include everything from ballet to hip-hop and everything in between!



Please note: Auditions will NOT be held at Sophie Dance Studio. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to sign in and warm up. For information about how auditions work and a video clip from past auditions, please read this post on our website. Please read signs carefully for street parking! For easy and cheap parking, the Beverly Center Lot ($1 per hour) and the Loehmann’s Lot ($1.00 for the first 2 hours) are close.

Performances will be held on Saturday, August 28th and Sunday, August 29th at the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood.

Join us tonight at 9:30pm at Sophie Dance for the last Video Vixens class ever! Our adult dance class schedule changes after Friday so come on down tonight for your last chance to learn the "Telephone" choreography with Lady Bekah!

Hello friends and family!!

The time has come to take your pumps or stilettos out to use. Take what you've learned in UnStripped or Burlesque Body with Miss Brandi ChAos OR you just like to strut and like how your legs look in them heels; well let's apply it to the latest beats in the club. Video Vixens is designed for any level to enjoy the great moves from our favorite artists that they've executed in the videos!!! Madonna, Britney, Michael, Beyonce, Pussycat Dolls, Janet, Ciara, NSync, Backstreet Boys, etc... Starting TODAY with SINGLE LADIES!! The class is structured with a fun warm-up/stretch followed by an easy accross the floor into a breakdown of the moves that we'll be focusing that day. Video vixens is on Tuesdays @ 9:30-10:30pm finishing with a glass of wine or champagne inspired by Miss Brandi ChAos. Join us and share the celebration of a fun, easy, crazy way to express what we all feel inside.
